Snow day Activity

Anyone who has children with long hair knows that the hair supplies can get a little crazy. SO seeing the new trend of turning picture frames into hair "pretties" (what we call them in our house) I decided to give it a try.

I went to Michaels and found these wooden picture frames for 8 dollars. I decided to go with these rather than some cheaper ones at other stores because I can paint them any color I want without any difficulty and if we don't want to use these for this purpose later my girls each have a frame they can update and do anything with. The wood is way more versatile than just using an old frame (however, if I had some old frames lying around I would have used them for sure).

I just painted them with two coats of acrylic paint (I should have sanded them first, but they turned out fine).

I wanted the ribbon to look uniformly spaced so I measure and marked where I was going to glue the ribbon.

 I cut my ribbon.
I plugged in the glue gun.
I glued the ribbon to the back of the frame. The colors chosen match her Spongebob bed decor.
 Here they both are completed.
 Here's one with just flowers.
Here's one with the miscellaneous hair pieces. I have more...I just have to find them all as they are scattered throughout the realm.

Next to the frame is a plastic hook, that has a closed pin that's used for knitting projects (like a giant safety pin) that is holding all the pony tail holders and headbands.

All in all, about 30 minutes of work.
